Sin destroys relationships

Memory Verse:

“Why do you fight and argue among yourselves? Isn’t it because

of your sinful desires? They fight within you.” James 4:1 (NIrV)

ACTIVITY:

OVER UNDER

(provided by Go! Curriculum)

Supplies:

beach ball (or any object that is safe to pass overhead) & something to keep time with.

Directions:

Memorize the Bible verse. Today’s Bible verse says:

Older Kids:

“Why do you fight and argue among yourselves?

Isn’t it because of your sinful desires? They fight within

you.” James 4:1

Younger Kids:

“Why do you fight and argue among yourselves?

Isn’t it because of your sinful desires?” James 4:1

Have everyone line up front to back. Give the first person in line a beach ball (or any object that is safe enough to pass overhead). When you say, “ready, set, go,” start your timer and prompt the first person in line to quickly recite the verse. Upon completion, they’ll pass the beach ball over their head to the person behind them. That person will then pass the beach ball over their head to the person behind them and so forth.

When the ball reaches the last person in line has everyone turn around and recite the verse as they pass the beach ball back. But this time, they will pass the ball under their legs to the person behind them. Once the ball has passed to the “original” first person in line, and they have successfully recited the memory verse, yell “Time!” Have the group go another round and try to beat their original time. Play as long as interest allows. Then ask the question below.

Question:

Have you ever apologized and asked one of your friends for forgiveness? What happened? Are you still friends?
